National Dialysis Accreditation Commission Becomes First Accreditation Organization to Receive Deemed Status for ESRD

January 9, 2019 (Glen Ellyn, Illinois) National Dialysis Accreditation Commission, LLC (NDAC), an Accreditation Organization (AO) specializing in the dialysis industry, has received approval of deemed status from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

With this approval, NDAC becomes the first AO in the country to be approved for deemed status for End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Dialysis providers successfully completing NDAC’s accreditation process will now be awarded Medicare certification from CMS based on their accreditation with recommendation for deemed status by NDAC. Based in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, NDAC offers accreditation services in all 50 United States and U.S. territories.

Due to a lapse in appropriations, CMS was unable to follow routine protocol to announce its approval of NDAC’s application as an approved Medicare accreditation program for ESRD facilities in the Federal Register. Instead, CMS issued an approval letter with an effective date of January 4, 2019 directly to NDAC. Once funds are appropriated and the Federal Government resumes normal operations, this notice will be published in the Federal Register.

Co-Founder and Chief Compliance Officer Glenda Payne commented, “We are very excited to offer an alternative path to Medicare certification. We have hired a cadre of experienced dialysis nurses to conduct our surveys, providing a level of expertise and focus on high risk practices. Vigorous internal review of survey findings will ensure consistent implementation of our survey process. Our focus on strictly dialysis facilities will allow dramatic reduction in waiting times for initial surveys and predictable survey intervals for resurveys. We are delighted to be able to offer a better solution for dialysis patients and providers.”

“’Dialysis Accreditation by Dialysis Experts’ is a Company focus that we are incorporating into all aspects of our survey process, from the hiring of experienced dialysis surveyors to our patient-centered approach in our accreditation survey process,” commented Ms. Jennifer Vavrinchik, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer. “Coupled with our industry-leading expertise, our accreditation standards largely mirror CMS’ Condition for Coverage for ESRD, so providers can be assured a familiar compliance experience when working with NDAC.”

“We are thrilled to lead the industry in being the first AO approved in the ESRD space,” said Curt Anliker, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “We have developed a service offering that is tailored for not only the large dialysis organizations and the regional players, but also for the multi-site and single, independent dialysis providers. We look forward to delivering a best-in-class service with a team that is unparalleled in terms of dialysis experience.”
